All Kratom Powder offered has gone through a STERILIZATION process. When sending in Kratom to be tested we are requesting a full panel. This is what that consists of. 1. Heavy Metals. This consists of Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury. Typically, any thing that grows out of the ground is going to have some kinds of heavy metal content. Do not be alarmed by this. It is natural. Today we are going to talk about the various names our precious leaf is given. Otie's Botanicals answer customer questions about strains and their names quite often. So, we wanted to give you some more information. Strain names are all but names for marketing. I know that can be a let down for some. These names were all created by our awesome Indonesian farmers just for Kratom consumers, they know how much we all love options! With that being said, a 'Maeng Da' from one vendor, will most likely not give you the exact same effects as one from another. We know a lot of people prefer to stick with a certain name. It is a comfort thing, Adam and I were the same way at one time, till we did some more research on our beloved plant. This is why we want to share as much information with you as possible. The Three Major Kratom Strains Please remember, there are only three Kratom vein colors. Red, Green & White vein. Believe it or not, most trees grow with a red vein! Green vein is fairly common as well, but white vein leaves are few and far between. Also, one tree can grow each color vein. Strains are all but blends of certain colored vein. The drying process of these leaves after they are farmed is actually what gives us such a big difference in color. Indoor drying, outdoor drying, use of a UV light, fermentation, and variations of those processes give us the colors we know and love. For example, white strains are typically dried entirely inside, with little to no light. While reds are dried in sunlight, or with a strong UV light. Any strain can be fermented, which gives us our tried and true Red Bentuangie. Yellow and Gold strains are the most interesting of them all, but they are typically also fermented. They can be blends of a fermented red and green, white and green, etc. . It all depends on the farmer and/or vendor. The season in which these leaves were farmed also has a lot to do with potency. As well as location and the soil in which is grows. The rainy season in Indonesia is known to produce brighter or pale leaves, which sometimes can be less potent than the dry/hot season. All of these colors have different alkaloid properties, which in turn give us our very different effects. Diverse Blends and Unique Experiences These names given are typically blends of different colors. For example, a Green Maeng Da could be 80% green, 20% red. Most farmers have their own percentages for their strains. This is why Otie feels it is so important for everyone to branch out when it comes to names of strains. You may think that a Bali won't work for you, because you tried one from another source. But you never know if a Bali from a different vendor could become one of your favorites! Not all strains are created equally. You may try a strain from a new vendor you have tried elsewhere, and the effects are completely different. There are so many options! Some people do toss and wash, which is taking a sip of liquid and dumping powder directly into their mouth and swallowing. It is not an easy method to get used to. One false move and you are choking on kratom powder, it's coming out of your nose... but some people have it down to a science. Some people drink it in tea. It isn't the best tasting tea, but tap warm water helps with absorption. Some take capsules, but caps can take time to break down. Therefore it can be less effective for some people, or you need more caps to make up for it. Honey balls are taken like capsules and you don't have the issue with gelatin breaking down in your stomach. Oblates are a great alternative to capsules, they don't take as long to break down. I personally like to mix mine into my morning protein shake. I feel it lasts longer, and the taste is masked by the chocolate protein powder. Sometimes, I mix my powder with a little lemonade and take it as a shot. Adam likes to mix his with a little bit of OJ and gulps it down, orange juice and lemonade both mask the flavor, and helps with absorption. Try honey balls! They are super easy to make, easy to take, and work just like a regular toss and wash or tea. Here’s how to do it: Weigh out your desired amount of kratom. Whatever strain, or mix of strains you want. For my first time I only used my normal amount. Now I do quite a bit to keep on hand for later. Add it into a decent sized bowl, grab a mixing scraper or spoon. Add a few drops of honey. & MIX. You will mix a lot... . I mean, a lot. But don’t over do the honey. I did about one drop per gram of kratom. Once you have mixed it to death, it will be a little sticky, a little crumbly, but should pack together nicely. I roll it into a log and cut into equal pieces, then roll them each into little easy to swallow balls. You can store them in a freezer, freezing helps pull out the alkaloids. Bam. Done. Take your normal dosage, it is just like taking capsules. I prefer to drink mine with some warm lemon tea. No nasty taste. Plus it will work faster than capsules, which tend to take forever to dissolve. Enjoy! The scientific name, mitragyna speciosa, was given to this plant by Dutch botanist Peter Korthals. Korthals noticed the leaves and the stems of the flower resembled a bishop’s mitre, which influenced the name of this plant. From this point, Korthals provided historical documentation of this leaf in its first usage. Kratom Around The World Kratom is known by many names: Krathom, Kakaum, Ithang, Kratum, Thom (thailand), Biak-Biak and Ketum (Malaysia), Mambog (Philippines). Different regions across Southeastern Asia have created specific descriptions for this plant but the chemistry remains the same. Kratom- Natural Habitat The Kratom tree is a very peculiar plant. The tree requires certain environmental elements in order for it to survive in the wild, normally in tropical environments which presents hot and humid weather. Usually found growing wild in the jungle, the tree needs both fertile soil and excessive water in order to grow at its maximum height of 100 – 115 feet.
