We have quite a few customers who love using oblates for taking their Kratom from Oties Botanicals. We also have some curious on how these work. So, I put together a little video to help anyone curious. Oblate bags are available on Amazon. We highly reccommend Blate Papes!
Enjoy! – Becca
I don’t understand. If you are just going to drop the disc into a cup of water, what’s the sense in using it at all? Why not just dump 2 grams in the water without the use of the disc?
I generally take k-tea in my coffee, stirring in approximately 7 grams of it into about 4 ounces of coffee and drink. However, when I use oblates (I use the bags, not the discs), I just put it in my mouth, take a swig of whatever cold beverage I am drinking and swallow. The oblate filled with the k-tea just goes down with the drink so easily that it’s not even noticeable.
Can you explain why you put it in an oblate first if you are just stirring it into the water anyway? Thanks!
I personally do it this way. It does not dissolve in the water, because I immediately drink the cup of water with the disc in it. Rather than putting the disc in my mouth then drinking. We all do things a little differently. 🙂
Hi Joyce! I use Oblate discs too. The concept is a little difficult to understand until you try it. Then it will make total sense. The point of the Oblate disc is to wrap the kratom powder into a little package and seal it with water like a little pill pocket. The water will start dissolving the potato starch disc pretty quick, so you can’t take much time with this process. You want to swallow the little pill pocket before it melts causing the powder to come out. Once you wrap the powder in the disc, you can give it a quick dip in the water or just drop the entire thing in the cup of water. The water makes the little package of kratom slippery. So when you drink, the little package of powder just slides down your throat. The kratom never touches your tongue because it’s sealed in the disc and you don’t taste the bitter powder at all. I also like the taste of kratom powder mixed into coffee with some cream and sugar or mixed into orange juice. But when I want to toss and wash, I’ve failed enough times that I fear turning into a green-powder breathing dragon. A toss and wash failure tends to mess up my throat and nose for a day or so. For those that struggle with toss and wash, like me, the Oblate discs makes it so simple. It’s almost the same thing as a toss and wash, except the powder is sealed up in the disc. As long as you don’t take to long to swallow it after wetting the disc, it make the toss and wash as fail proof as it gets. A disc can hold up to 3 grams of powder. The Oblate bags are the same material as the discs, just bigger. The bags are pre-formed like little bags. They are easier to work with if you want to make a larger 5-6 gram pill pocket. I hope that clears things up. I didn’t quite get the point of the Oblates at first either. Until I tried it. Best of luck.
How can you do ANYTHING with them nails?!! Haha jk great video!
Haha! You learn to adapt. 🙂
Have you considered using/carrying Blate Papes instead of the discs? It’s US company and they hold more too.
I’d like to especially thank you for this video, as it’s with it and this whole process that I made a very key discovery in my overall use of kratom. That ALL this time, I’d not been taking nearly as much as I thought I was (which I think hopefully will help explain my moderate level of disappointment from it so far). From the start I was always all about just buying straight powder from any given vendor, as for one thing you can always have the concern from certain sites if they’ve put anything else into pre-made capsules. And I’ve never minded doing simple, repetitive tasks so I was just fine filling my capsules one by one by hand. However I’d get size 000 gelatin capsules, but kratom is obviously not nearly as fine a powder as I’d always thought, because the fine print from 000 said you could get anywhere from like .9 grams to 1.2 grams of your powder in them. So I figured I was set in assuming I was taking roughly 1 gram of kratom with each capsule I swallowed. Well, I’ve always been someone for whom kratom was about anxiety, pain relief and sedation, so was all about the reds from the start, and taking more rather than less of it. I only finally pulled the trigger on getting a digital scale and a pack of the discs earlier this week, and the very first thing I did was fill a capsule normally, then empty it out on the scale to see how much it was. It was about .57 grams. I was stunned to learn I’ve only been taking roughly half of the amount I thought I was after all this time. And I took my time so much with the first one, I literally wound up letting this video play out like 4 straight times lol Granted, up until the actual finalizing of the pouch, since as regular users now, that thing starts breaking down very quickly. And it’s definitely taking some trial and error, sometimes I get it right and feel nothing in my mouth, a couple of times I screwed up and wound up coughing on some powder. I just wish there was a bigger version of the discs. Because I saw that the “plates” are much bigger, but I think the rounded edge really does help in allowing you to twist the sealed package out of it. The person who said they can fill them as much as 3g in a shot, I don’t know how the heck you do that because even in the times where I’m up to like 2.75g (ironically, I’m quite OCD myself in many ways, but NOT in the manner where you are where I literally have to only take it at exactly 2g) even in the goes where I’m moving it thru my hand and swallowing it quickly, I still wind up with a little bit kinda spurting out at the top. So if there was a disc that was maybe like 30% or so bigger, I’d have a lot more confidence I could get that twisty tie on fast and sufficiently without feeling it. But at any rate, it literally was this video that inspired me to finally take the plunge on this method, for which I’m very thankful, and wish I had long ago. I’ll still wind up doing capsules sometimes, mostly because I can’t always necessarily make as full of a night of sleep that I’m trying to get without needing a sort of booster dose real early in the morning, and I know I won’t have the alertness to perform this process correctly in the most moments. But otherwise it’s the scale and the discs all the way.
